Adkins Russells Adkins Russells

We started out wanting to breed jack russells as an 'on the side' type of experience. We wanted something that would help us pay for my husband's college expenses and something I could do from home. We had one JRT, why not get another?! My mother-in-law and I searched the web and searched the ads in the paper; we made LONG trips in attempt to try to find the true shorty, puddin, jack russell. And as you can imagine, we ran into one breeder after another that obviously didn't hold to strong standards for their JRTs. The breed standard can be found at www.ejrtca.com. It just so happened that as we were on our way to visit relatives in Arkansas we came across the EJRTCA website. I immediately clicked on the breeders link, www.russellsvillejacks.comand thought 'ok, these are the dogs I am looking for.' The breeder lived near where we were going to be visiting and so I made a special trip to go see her 'facilities.' The minute I drove up and was greeted by the tail-wigglers in their shoots- I could tell they were the JRT standard I had been searching for. And although they were a bit pricier than the other dogs we were looking at, I knew the quality was what I wanted. (And even at that, I'd pay twice as much now as I did then for our puppy!) There are a lot of people who don't care about the quality of the dogs they breed, they just want to sell more puppies; but I knew this was a very well loved, organized, and time invested program. One thing I learned through my research was you get what you pay for! My experience of owning a JRT, the research I did on the dogs, and the growing desire to breed quality JRTs has led me to start breeding EJRTCA JRTs. If you are looking for quality, loved, and absolutely beautiful JRTs, I believe you will find what you are looking for with Adkins Jacks! And although we are starting small, we are already making plans for our program to grow in the near future so keep your eyes open for the updates!

A Brief History- I have to give the ultimate thanks to my mother-in-law Mrs. Judy Adkins. When my husband was little, he wanted a 'Wishbone" dog. Mrs. Adkins gave him a picture one time of a JRT and told him that when she was able to, she would buy him a puppy. Well MANY years later, she purchased Chaco for Stoker. To this day Stoker still has that little cutout picture!! So THANK-YOU Mrs. Adkins!!!

The Shorty Jack Russell Terrier is now being recognized by the AKC. There will be a couple of years of establishing breed standards, finding a parent kennel club, and other types of formalities being established. The EJRTCA registered 'Russells' (as the AKC will refer to them as) will be registered on an individual basis and you will receive as much info as we will have on the AKC at time of purchase, if desired. However, while the AKC will recognize the Russell by bloodline, the EJRTCA will still be accepting their members based on breed standards. Again, if you are looking for a quality Jack Russell Terrier I strongly advise you to look for the breed standards in your dog and for a quality breeder, don't go just on their kennel club!

*I have to give a huge thanks to Jana Crawford of www.RussellvilleJacks.com and Gertie Albright of www.BrightJacks.com for all of their help, patience, and encouragement! If you don't see what you want here, I highly recommend you take a look at their sites! BEAUTIFUL dogs!
